QwikSwitch Google Home Setup Guide

Prerequisites:
● All your QwikSwitch devices must already be added and working normally in the
QwikSwitch dashboard (the web portal you normally use)
● You need:
            ○ Your QwikSwitch account email address
            ○ The 12-digit Bridge Key (found on the WiFi Bridge label)

Step 1: Install the Google Home App

  1. On your Android phone or iPhone, open www.qwikswitch.co.za home page
  2. Tap the works with Google Home badge
  3. You will automatically be taken to:
    ○ Google Play Store (Android) or
    ○ Apple App Store (iOS).
  4. Download and install the Google Home app   
  5. Open the Google Home app and sign in with your normal Google account or create one.

Tip: If you already have the Google Home app installed, you can skip to Step 2.

Step 2: Link Your QwikSwitch Account to Google Home

  1. Go back to the QwikSwitch home page.
    2. Tap the Google Home badge again.
    3. A linking page will open, tap Continue
    4. Tap Agree and continue to accept the Privacy Policy & Terms of Service
    5. Enter the following:
         ○ Your QwikSwitch account email address.
         ○ The 12-digit Bridge Key found on the label of your WiFi Bridge
    6. Tap Link Account

Once the link is successful, your QwikSwitch devices will automatically appear in the Google Home app

Step 3: Add Devices to Rooms and edit Device Type

Google Home works best when devices are assigned to rooms. This allows you to group
devices and let you say things like “Hey Google, turn off the lounge lights” if you have a Google assistant

  1. Each device must be added to a room
    2. Multiple devices can be added to the same room
    3. Use Google Home’s existing rooms or create new ones
    4. Long press any device and tap Settings icon to change the name, device type, room etc.
    5. Frequently used lights can be added to Favourites for quick access

Tip: For ease of use, add all devices to 1 room (eg. Home) if you only have 1 device per room

Step 5: Create Automations & Routines (Optional)

1. Tap the + button to create a new automation
2. Tap Automation
3. Examples you can set up in seconds:
   ○ Schedules - turn on specific lights at sunset or at 7:00 pm
   ○ Group Switching (Scenes) via Google Assistant or Google Home Playground
